Korea maintained its position on top of the Pool B standings with a dominant 4-0 win over Korea to open the action on Day 5 in Rome.
With its performance, Korea stays on top to the Pool B points table with 7 points while Azerbaijan falls to 0-3 in still seeking its first points of the tournament.
Bo Mi Kim and Jung Hee Kim gave Korea a 2-0 halftime advantage and Young Soon Park added a pair of penalty corner goals in the second half to complete the domination.
Zarifahon Zennalova brought Azerbaijan’s faithful to their feet on several occasions with nice runs through the Korea defense, but she was quickly shutdown upon entering the Korean circle. Azerbaijan goalkeeper Viktoriya Shahbazova was pelted with shots throughout the day but kept her team close until Young Soon Park converted her two penalty corner goals in the final 11 minutes.
Korea returns to the pitch on Monday against New Zealand in a battle of two top-ten internationally-ranked teams while Azerbaijan will take on the United States.
